BEAUTIFUL IN EVERY SHADE ™ is a grassroots empowerment movement transcending colonized beauty standards.
We seek to transform the way everyday people from around the world look at themselves and others.
We define Community as: those with whom we struggle for justice. We believe that our Freedom is Bound up in the Freedom and Liberation of others. We are committed to The Beautiful Struggle.
We provide artists an opportunity to connect with their local communities in meaningful ways to harness the power within their art to bring about positive social change.
We believe that "none of us are beautiful until we realize that all of us are."
50 SHADES OF BLACK
50 Shades of Black is committed to using the power of art and personal stories to explore the complex relationship between skin tone and sexuality in the formation of black identity. Through collaborations with visual artists, scholars, and the general public, this project hopes to offer a deeper & more nuanced understanding of the diverse spectrum of black identity. It is in the recognition of this diversity that 50 Shades of Black acknowledges the historical ways in which race and gender have been constructed and the role that and skin tone and sexuality play in shaping the way we engage the world, how we perceive beauty, and our own self-worth.

BLACK MEN SMILE
BLACK MEN SMILE is about radical expressions of self love. It is about resistance. It is about learning from each other. It is about encouraging one another. It is about transcending boundaries. It is about “defying gravity" as our ancestors have always done…and leaving a legacy so that generations after us may do the same.
BLACK MEN: Celebrating the way we see ourselves.

TYPICAL AMERICAN FAMILIES
Typical American Families is about demystifying and removing both the 'exoticism' and assumptions that are associated with being a (quote/unquote) 'non-traditional' american family. It is also as much about re-imagining some of our narrowly held, normative understandings of what an american family can be and what one should look like. We don't seek to define family. We seek to celebrate the breadth of its many manifestations... and to explore new possibilities of what 'family' might be.
